Invasion! modernizes and continues H. G. Wells’s classic tale
with a trilogy of modern military adventure science fiction novels, with
seven full-page interior illustrations by Choi Tae-Young.
In the first book, War of Two Worlds, merciless aliens attack
Earth without warning, slaughtering, consuming, and destroying human
civilization. American military forces are smashed and scattered by the
uncaring invaders. An intrepid band of ordinary folks refuses to accept
the inevitable, and vows to fight to the death. Town by town, they’re
pushed inexorably back towards the great city by the Bay. There the
ultimate battle is joined—or is it?
Miraculously, mankind lives to fight another day, and in the second
novel, Operation Crimson Storm, the battle soon spreads into
outer space. Earth sends an expedition to roust the enemy out of its
hidden lair on Mars. The fight reaches the very heart of the Martian
civilization, deep within the bowels of the Red Planet. But the aliens
have many different weapons, not all of them military in nature. The
outcome is clouded by misunderstanding and miscalculation.
In the final book of the trilogy, The Martians Strike Back!, the
war between the worlds spreads further into the Solar System, reigniting
on both Earth and Mars, with savage battles fought on land and sea. The
planetoid Ceres, site of a major alien base in the asteroid belt, holds
the final key to the outcome. Can man and alien find some way of
coexisting? Or will the “War of Two Worlds” result in the extinction of
both species?
